Huckabee's Post-sermon Interview on MSNBC
Joe Scarborough of MSNBC asked Mike Huckabee about his sermon in Michigan. They spinned the affair as if folks were attacking Mike Huckabee just for giving a sermon, speaking in a church. They opined that there is a double-standard that allows Democrats to speak in progressive churches and praised for it, but that accuses Republicans of being radical 'right-wing religious nuts' if they speak in a church.
Mike Huckabee, for his part, gave a nice interview.
Throughout the whole interview, though, they completely forgot about the part where Mike Huckabee wants to amend the Constitution. Talk about spin!

Mike Huckabee's Sermon
I am glad to see a site for Catholics that are political too.
Good luck with coming back from the crash....
About Mike Huckabee. I often find myself agreeing with his politics, especially his populist views of taxes and corporate power. In this way he does show his Christian views and it is refreshing to see a Republican actually act justly rather than simply espousing "values".
But what bothers me is that he is then crossing the line between politics and religion. If he actually is preaching Jesus, then he needs to be a preacher. Religion shouldn't be a requirement for a president, and unlike Kennedy who vowed to uphold the Constitution, I don't see that here with Huckabee.
Christian values are acceptable in America as long as they are inclusive - all people can see the inherent value of traditionally Christian values of social justice and the equality of all. Exclusive values such as anti-gay rhetoric or moral thought police are not acceptable stands for any presidential candidate.
That other candidates show up in churches isn't the issue. It's that Huckabee is espousing only one set of religious ideas. His.
