Sweet Caroline: Rudy Giuliani's Daughter Jumps Ship to Obama

According to Slate, Rudy Giuliani can forget about support from his daughter Caroline. She's backing Obama! 
I guess that's one more Republican politician who won't be having his daughter up on the stage with him at the Republican National Convention.
She lists herself as a liberal. I guess fruits can fall quite far from the tree! I don't blame Caroline, though. If I had grown up in Rudy's household, I would probably have jumped from GOP to Communista Internationale.

Oops... Inappropriate Blog Post
After I wrote this blog post and went home, it dawned on me that I had publicly targeted someone's child. Caroline is not running for office; and so it was really tacky to blog about her, even if doing so lends weight to arguments about who Rudy is as a person.
Because the post has been up for awhile and because someone already placed a comment to the post, I am leaving it up.
CfD does try to have a tad bit more class than a sleazy gossip blog; so gratuitous commentary referencing people who are not active in the public political sphere is really inappropriate. I will try to use more discretion in the future; and, of course, encourage others to do the same.
This matter does speak, however, to the damage caused by broken marriages. It also speaks to the damage to personal relations when someone acts purely out of selfish (and childish) interests. I remember the day Rudy stood in front of City Hall with his aide/mistress and announced to the entire City of New York that he was filing for divorce from his wife to pursue a relationship with his aide/mistress. He hadn't even bothered to tell his wife yet. She found out from the press conference the same time the rest of the City did. What a humiliating way to be informed that your spouse is leaving you! And that he was having an affair with an employee!
But, you know what? Rudy brings to the way he governs that same pursuit of narcissistic self-interest he brings to his personal relationships. Don't let his disingenuous smile confuse you.
